A new bedroom and library in an old apartment

Posted on Tue, 6 Mar 2018 by KiM

While I anxiously await the project that never seems like it is going to happen (the creation of a library in my third floor unused space), I can only hold back pangs of jealousy when I come across projects like this by Sophie Lallias of Atelier Sofi(A). She created a bedroom and library and left a narrow staircase to access the rest of the apartment. 3.5 metre high bookcases allow for maximum use of a very small space and the result is TONS of book storage, a workspace and a cozy bedroom. (That’s FarrowBall’s Tessela wallpaper in the hallway and Cole & Sons Woods & Stars in the bedroom…and these photos are by Benoit Alazard)

Studio apartment kitchen inspiration

Live in a small studio apartment? Basically just one room in which to cram your living sleeping and kitchen? Love to cook but don’t want to stare at the kitchen sink while you’re reclining on your bed? Rather forget that you live in just that one room? Here is a little inspiration from Melbourne based Nicholas Agius Architects. (Now I just wonder what the studio apartment looked like when the rest of the “stuff” was moved in.)

Nano Pad

A tiny 22 sqm Art Deco studio apartment in inner city Sydney has been transformed into a stylish pied–à–terre. A plywood insert creates a change of level, delineating the bed space from a small seating area while providing lots of hidden storage beneath. The look is contemporary Scandi with the original Art Deco elements providing a counterpoint. The Nano Pad by Architect Prineas.

I’m like a spoilt child. If I see something I like then I want what I see. Please mummy can I have a beach hut right on the beach? Just meters from the water? Pleeeeeeaaaase. Except I’d want sand not shingle but you can’t have it all. Beach House by Studiomama.
