House of Ideas

Posted on Thu, 19 Oct 2017 by midcenturyjo

It may have been only existed as an installation for the Lodz Design Festival earlier this month but how amazing would it be if this hauntingly beautiful old house could retain its modern trappings, even better if I could live there. A fantastical world of peeling ceilings and tattered wallpaper as backdrop to cutting edge furniture, striking art and a jungle of indoor plants. This slightly fractured dream of a domain is by Design Alive and you can read more including sources here.

Perfect

The kitchen of my dreams. Modern day living in a historic setting with just enough eclectic touches. Oh and my perfect kitchen has its little imperfections like the old worn floor with its wonderful patina. The Frome kitchen by deVOL. Now if I can just achieve the same look in my own home. Swoon.

Nantucket dreaming

From its dark panelled public areas and quirky maritime touches to its light and breezy bedrooms with layered bed linens from John Robshaw and Les Indiennes, Greydon House on the island of Nantuket off Cape Cod  is the perfect virtual getaway for this hump day Wednesday. I’m fantasizing about strolling through the boutique shops in the morning followed by a long beach walk, warming up by a crackling fire with a drink and a dog eared book before by a fabulous dinner in the restaurant. With interiors by Roman and Williams I don’t think I want to wake up from this lovely daydream.

Vintage style in the West Village

Posted on Tue, 9 May 2017 by midcenturyjo

“Designing a functional lifestyle goes well beyond beauty. It is an expression of where you are in your life. Your home should support you, showcase your interests and allow you to feel grounded.”

It’s about personal style and comfort, about surrounding yourself with what matters and what makes your heart sing. This West Village condo is the designer’s own home created from a once soulless warehouse conversion. Now? Well now it goes beyond trends and tells the story of a life well lived and loved.
