I am curious… if you purchased a very old home with loads of character, complete with peeling wallpaper, peeling paint, original doors and windows etc…..how much would you want to keep vs salvage and live with? Kudos to the owners of this home in Pau, France (Lisa and Julien Ménard and their 5 kids) for maintaining much of the period details. Stripping it of its history would have been cruel. I love the classic, vintage and timeless feels of this Greenville, South Carolina home designed by Taylor Hill. Playing with the balance of new, old, eclectic and traditional was the name of the game with this project. As a new construction residence in the heart of a historic Greenville neighborhood, the client wanted to be sure their home maintained a cohesive look and feel to its surroundings. We carried this theme from the exterior and throughout the house by blending vibrant textiles and wallpaper, heirloom antiques, contemporary art, and thoughtful architectural details to create a dynamic aesthetic.

What was once the very dated mid century Nashville home of country singer Tammy Wynette, is now a chic, hollywood glam meets contemporary cool and casual space with one of the sweetest pools I have ever seen. How much of a challenge would furnishing a home with so many curved walls be?! ‘TammyWood’ designed by Rachel Halvorson.

I’ve been agonizing over what to do with the 2 garden beds my husband created in our front yard when he completed interlocking the driveway. The other day I happened to notice House & Garden’s YouTube account had posted a new video of the rented home of British designer Flora Soames. I love her style and her pattern and colour filled home, but it was her garden that had me really swooning. Her pool became a pond, and around it is the most incredible floral cutting garden. Then it hit me. If I can’t figure out what to do in my front yard, particularly with the 20′ long x 12′ (ish) bed, why not just fill it to the brim with flowers! (I generally don’t plant anything that flowers, I am weird like that). So due to this enlightenment I figured I would share some photos from that feature on Flora in House & Garden (first 4, photographed by Simon Upton) and some from random projects in her portfolio.
