It may seem easy to create a contemporary space within a beautiful, historic shell. Just toss in the required areas and hope for the best. If only it was this simple. The redevelopment of this 130m² apartment within an old Viennese building saw the architects reassess the space, changing layouts ever so slightly, defining ideas, distilling the design. Refining and re-invigorating.

“The careful restoration of the apartment’s substance that is worthy of preservation goes hand in hand with the integration of modern elements, thus creating an exciting dialogue between the Old and the New.”

Aqua Di Mykonos

Posted on Sun, 17 Jul 2016 by KiM

Who wants to join me in Mykonos? Dream vacation anyone?! The folks of mykonosestates.com real estate agency sent along photos of Aqua di Mykonos, a luxury villa near Agrari Beach that contains 4 independent structures – a main house, a pool house, a guest house and a kids/staff house. Not to mention the incredible pool and Jacuzzi with views to die for. What I would do to stay here….and Jo could join and we’d finally hang out in person together (about time I’d say, it’s been 10 years). The dream continues…

House like Village

Take on old harbour cantina on an island in Amsterdam and an architect with lofty ideas, and you end up with a set of 4 residential lofts that are every modernists’ dream. By Marc Koehler Architects

Another project by Studio McGee

Studio McGee is consistently a top notch resource for thirst-quenching interior decor inspiration. This Pacific Palisades project is among one of my favourites. Classy furnishings, lots of crisp white, a kitchen that could not be more inviting, dreamy bathrooms with marble countertops and tiles that have me swooning, a bit of pattern for some graphic detail…it is a home I want to sink my teeth into. Stalking a House for a Painter

It’s not healthy for me to stalk the properties for sale on The Modern House. Not healthy at all. You see I get jealous very easily. Take for example this House for a Painter by Dingle Price in London. It really should be a House for Jo. Don’t you agree? A former Victorian dairy now a home and studio. It’s just what I never knew I really, really wanted.
