A surprise in the kitchen

Posted on Fri, 24 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

Fabulous French Friday. Is there such a thing? Well there is today because I had to share this delicious Haussmannian apartment in Paris by Studio Razavi Architecture. The bones are great, those white walls and floors the perfect foil for the covetable furniture and art collection but there’s a surprise in the kitchen… after the jump.

A fun, fresh kitchen

Light, bright, fun and fresh. It may not be big on space but it’s got everything I need including gorgeous sunshine steaming in and a cute dining nook. Forrest Ave. kitchen by Nashville-based Crowell + Co. Interiors.

A classic, modern living room

The layering of texture, the mix of modern and old, high-end and low, a colour palette of black and white warmed by rich caramels. Simply delicious. A classic, modern living room by Austin-based Claire Brody Designs.

Modern farmhouse

A contemporary family home with a farmhouse feel in Medina, Washington by H2 Design + Build. The house may be new but its contents have been carefully collected over time. Crisp and white but warmed by lovely wooden floors and layers of texture. Pops of colour are used sparingly for impact and personality. I love the pared back simplicity of the exterior, the white contrasting beautifully with the green of the garden.

A monochromatic melody

Posted on Thu, 9 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

Oak beams and half timbered walls, flagstones and horse brasses. It all adds up to a quintessential English cottage but this house by i gigi is layered with contemporary, French and Asian influences. A monochromatic melody of old and new, local and global, natural and neutral.
