Working on a Saturday

Posted on Sat, 3 Aug 2019 by midcenturyjo

It’s like I say time and time again. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend then it certainly helps if it’s somewhere super stylish. Birkenstock 1774 Paris Showroom by Nick Vinson. (OMG! It’s chair heaven. I’m moving in.)

A light and spacious rear conversion

“The Studio May aesthetic is anchored in a refinement of palette and texture to create a sophisticated, yet warm and inviting environment that is time resilient.”

The brief for this inner Melbourne house was to increase space and volume within a small footprint and with a limited budget. The solution was to open up the back of the Victorian era cottage, creating a clean lined contemporary open plan space, minimalist with an emphasis on quality. Love the light that floods in as well as the vaulted ceiling and exposed beams.

Chasing the dream – the 80’s icon

Dear Mr Bank Manager,

That Sydney terrace house I asked you to let me buy in the last post? I might have changed my mind. As much as I love Victorian architecture I’m a sucker for the 80s and this iconic Ken Woolley designed suburban tower also in Paddington has my name written all over it. I even have the furniture to fit. Please lend me the money. Pretty please?

Sincerely,

Jo

Another dreamy villa in blue

I have another villa to share with you with some serious Mediterranean vibes. Blues, greys and white are the colour scheme in this home in Capri by Swiss designer Jorge Cañete. This one has an other-worldly, magical aura that I have come to expect from Jorge’s projects (see here and here for more). Breathtaking.
