White, light and dappled shade

Another day, another daydream, another dream beach house from Martín Gómez Arquitectos. The more I see of Gómez’ vision for Punta del Este the more I need to move to Uruguay. If white and wood and lots of light are key prerequisites for your perfect surf side abode then this house will certainly please. Love the long shaded patios that are so prominent in Gómez’ work. Perfect for long lazy alfresco living.

I have to admit I was a bit embarrassed when Clair emailed to let us know about the interior design firm in Vancouver she works for – Angela Robinson. I was not at all familiar with this firm….and I LOVE their work! Have I been living under a rock?! So here is a glimpse into the wonderful world of interiors as thoughtfully devised and beuatifully executed by Angela and her team.

East Hampton dreaming

Dreaming of the quintessential Hampton’s beach house? Dreaming of white and breezy, casual elegance and easy style? Susana Simonpietri of Chango & Co has conjured up a magical home in East Hampton. A young, fresh redesign of an historic home saw walls removed and open plan rooms created. Dark floors anchor the design where yellow pops against white walls and furnishings. Clean, crisp with silver highlights, old and new, rustic with industrial. Holiday or everyday this is a wonderful take on the modern Hamptons style.

Stalking subtle

Sometimes one can just have too much boulle and ormolu. Sometimes there is such a thing as too much fun. Today’s second house is a more subtle take on luxury. Starting with an equally impressive historic building the owners in this case have chosen an understated elegance. Greys and whites play against dark floors and modern, clean lined furniture and an open plan design play against the period features. Favourite here? The office. I would gladly home invade, er sorry, move in just for that office and of course the location. Gore St, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Sigh. Link here while it lasts.

Through the lens of a camera a room comes to life on page and screen. No point and click can suffice to capture the beauty and personality of a well designed space though. It takes an eye and a gift to transport the viewer into the picture, to experience what a room is all about. We know it though as something else… room porn. Gorgeous snaps that make us dream, lust and covet. Welcome to the portfolio of photographer Robin Stubbert.
