Hardcore conversion

You've heard about rough luxe. How about tough luxe? Perhaps we should call it high end brutal. It's luxury meets spartan, minimalist meets money. It's bacchanalian elimination. This loft in Dusseldorf revels in the essential beauty of the building. Seemingly unadorned but oh so carefully curated. Restrained, refined, distilled. Warehouse conversion by Belgian studio Atelier d'Architecture Bruno Erpicum & Partners.

P.S. Just realised that Kim had featured part of this conversion before when she featured Bruno Erpicum here. Thought that somewhat misogynistic artwork looked familiar ;)

Monday's pets on furniture - part 2

If you'd like to send me photos to include in next week's "pets on furniture" post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off...and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it's dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com and PLEASE don't send closeups of your pet!)

This little pup is Ollie. He's a Border Collie/Jack Russell mix that I recently rescued from the humane society. He thinks that this Quinn chair is a comfy spot, and I think he looks really cute on it!
- Natalie

My bootiful cat is Billy, he's a persian chinchilla and he's curled up on my son's bed in one photo and in my study on the shelf in the other!
- Georgina (West Burleigh on the Gold Coast)

This is Daisy, our year-and-a-half-old Boxer who decided to make herself at home in our new bucket chair. She follows the sunbeams through the room all day long.
- Kristie, Tucson, AZ

I've attached a few pictures of our Chihuahua, Hibou! She loves to soak up the sun while lounging around the living room :)

Every time I go to visit my dad's cousin we spend hours each morning talking in her bedroom chatting about life.  This trip, each day when I went in the room we found Casper napping in the exact same position.
- Chrystina (Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles)

These are our dogs, Leela (top) and Bailey (bottom) sitting with our recently finished DIY project, a mid-century modern chair we picked up of the side of the road. I've also included a photo of the 'before' state of the chair. Leela had meandered under it for a rest the day we were working on it in the backyard this passed summer.
- Michelle & Mark (Toronto, ON)

coco would love to submit this pic for pets on furniture....she's on an ikea bookshelf next to the good old kartell lamp...
- Tarnya

Our one year old little dude, Gary, claims every piece of furniture in our home. Couches, chairs, beds, tables...nothing is out of bounds in his mind.

Another plea for help

A week ago I blogged about a stray kitty that has been holed up in my bathroom while we try and find her a new home. Unfortunately we have yet to find a home for her and she's still locked up in my bathroom. Since my last post I had someone email me who sounded very interested, but I haven't heard from them since Tuesday. I guess they changed their minds. :( One other person has offered to take her in, but this person lives a 6 hour drive away and I really don't want to put the poor cat through that long of a car ride. So far, that's all I've got. The good news is she was at the vets on Friday (for a checkup and her first vaccinations) and was tested for all those nasty feline diseases that typically get passed around to strays...she is thankfully in perfect health. The vet thinks she is about 2 years old. She's in heat right now which is alot of fun (OMG the howling...hilarious because my husband says it sounds like she's yelling out "HELLO!"). She has an appointment to be spayed in a week.
Again, if anyone out there thinks they could provide this cat a forever home (and lives in or near Ottawa), please email me @ desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com.
Help. Please.

Just plain pretty

We've featured Jake Curtis' photography before but I stumbled across his site again today and was struck by just how pretty these shots are. Lovely faded, slightly shabby, other worldly and dusty girly. Perfect for a drag your feet sort of Monday.
