John Barman

We received an email yesterday about interior designer John Barman and his home in the Hamptons that will be on the Kips Bay and Architectural Digest House Tour this weekend (the first half of the photos above and below are of his home). His designs are captivating, and he can knock out a contemporary, classic or eclectic space like no one’s business. Talk about versatile…”striking perfect balance between the sumptuous and the seriously hip. Barman is known for his clear-cut, sophisticated style, bold new ideas, and a strong point of view. He favors handsome, crisp lines; the unrestrained use of strong, resonant color; new uses for traditional materials; and the successful marriage of functionality and fine detailing.” Yeah baby!

Green with envy

Peggy, our blogging friend, emailed with a request. “I was wondering if you guys had any pictures of all green rooms? By that I mean the color green. I keep searching and only finding sustainable (I guess green is the adjective for this) rooms. I’ve only recently fell in love with orange, and even more recently fell in love with yellow. Green is a color I don’t like much and don’t use very often, so I wonder if there is a possibility I could fall in love with it to if I saw it in some beautiful rooms.” Now how could you not already love green? I am a huge fan of bright green, like kelly green or chartreuse, and if the following photos don’t change your mind Peggy, then you’re hopeless…and Jo won’t send you her charteuse dresser you’ve been begging for.

David Jimenez encore

Jo and I are amazed at how many designers, photographers, stylists etc. take the time and email us to thank us for posting their work. Yesterday one of those emails was from David Jimenez, and I’ve got to say, I was as giddy as a little schoolgirl. I was all, “No, thank YOU for being a GENIUS”. Ok, I didn’t say that but perhaps I should have. I was however inspired to post more of his photos (maybe in the hopes of receiving a second email? LOL), so enjoy round 2 of David Jimenez splendour.

Reader’s home, in Home magazine

Julie Carlson of Remodelista blog emailed that her totally remodeled California home was featured in Home magazine. When I took a look at the photos, it was like everything I had always wanted in my home was there in hers! Incredible storage ideas, the cutest desk next to the kitchen with yet more storage, and even an outdoor bathing area!! And all in white. *SIGH*

If you love her bedroom (yep, I DO – the built-in shelving is FAB!!), then check out her “steal this look” post. P.S. Her architect was Jerome Buttrick and photographed by David Duncan Livingston.
