Everyone could use a little Hamptons getaway. Even in Moscow.
Living in megapolis, a family with two children wanted to build a house in picturesque Moscow suburbs to become a perfect escape from busy life in the city. It had to be comfortable equilibrium between simplicity and sophistication, functionality and sustainability. The typical Finnish log Honka house was thoroughly adapted to the client’s needs with utmost attention to architectural details. The interior of the house is mature, well-balanced and holistic, as we adhered the concept of well-known Hamptons style encapsulating the relaxation of a beach house, but dolled up with luxury finishes. The home has comforting palette of stone and handsomely stained wood which reflects calm and relax vibe in harmony with the surroundings, while strong graphic accents bring in the modern chic. There’s an elegance and sophistication with a dose of European flair to the work of Austin, TX based firm Christina Cole and Co. It’s really quite simple which helps draw your attention to the architecture.

Crossing the modest threshold of Potter’s House, your eye is immediately drawn to the framed view of the garden, a palette of green that pulls you inward, through to the heart of the house. Imparting the feeling of a cloister, the garden is set around a central pool and enclosed on four sides, from one of which the unfinished architecture of the Esglesia Nova casts an overlooking eye. The planting combines a delicate array of gaura, stipa and centranthus alba, creating a soft palette against the more structural forms of the muehlenbeckia and pistacia. A personal project for Luciano, Potter’s House can be found on the island of Mallorca, nestled within the quiet village of Son Servera.  

I may have been watching too many YouTube videos lately about French châteaus as I also found myself thinking this could be a fun Sunday theme. I spotted this gem on Sotheby’s. This medieval fortress is located on a mountain in Saint-Pierre-d’Albigny (south eastern France) with breathtaking views. It is 560m², has 14 bedrooms and includes stables, multiple towers and a chapel. This has sooooo much potential! What a dream!
