Dining inside restaurants is forbidden again while covid numbers skyrocket and temperatures drop here in Ottawa which means you can wear many layers and dine under a tent surrounded by heat lamps, order in or cook your own damn dinner. It’s been a while since I dined in a restaurant and I’m fairly certain I have never dined inside one that was decorated in steampunk style and I really dig this one, located in a traditional terrace house on Kaohsiung city, Taiwan, and designed by HAO Design. Modern with a dose of mid century and slathered in rich wood and contrasting white painted brick. I love this home by Commune Design. Designed in collaboration with Feldman Architecture, this 5000 square foot residence in San Francisco was handcrafted from the ground up. Inspired by modernist Scandinavian architecture, the house has a limited material palette of lime washed Norman brick, black terracotta tile, plaster, copper, blackened bronze and salvaged local redwood, walnut and elm. All cabinetry, doors, windows and railings were handcrafted as well as all decorative elements including the Stan Bitters fireplace in the outdoor living room. The young clients wanted a home “to grow old in” with interiors that are classic, inviting and layered with commissioned furniture pieces, custom rugs and vintage furnishings.

I’m always on the hunt for kitchen inspiration as mine needs an overhaul in a big way. Christina Samatas and Renee DiSanto of Park & Oak seem to have a knack for creating the dreamiest of classic, timeless, and really functional kitchens. I’d be ecstatic with any one of these in my home.

Someone once left a comment on a post about a Paris apartment: If life were at all fair, we would all have an apartment in Paris at some point in our lives. That post happened to be designed by Italian designer Fabrizio Casiraghi. This one is one of his latest projects in the 7th arrondissement, with architectural details that will blow you away. And I go back to that comment, with the belief that nothing could be more truthful. How is it fair that something this stunning even exists? I came across the portfolio of award-winning landscape architecture firm Ground Studio based in Monterey, California and found a plethora of outdoor inspiration that is once again making me dream of warm climates and winter-less seasons. I’ll take one of each please!
