A home for sale in Arlington

Posted on Thu, 3 May 2018 by KiM

Here is another example of a home styled to sell. Photographer Marianne Blackham sent over these photos of a home for sale in Arlington, Virginia. At almost 6,000 sq ft with 5 bedrooms and a gorgeous yard, this home is a stunner. The coffered ceilings, flooring made from 150 year old reclaimed wood, custom kitchen cabinets, many french doors out to the yard and stained glass in the master bedroom make this place a dream. A Craftsman with some edge by Reath Design

I love Los Angeles-based interior design firm Reath Design‘s ability to maintain a lot of the history of a home whilst adding some funk and modernizing to keep things current. This Craftsman in Berkeley, California epitomizes this. Patterns and textures are abundant here with some beautiful wallpaper, fabrics and rugs. All of the beautiful moldings are left natural, and in this case I think they really should be. LOVE!

A compact apartment in the Ukraine

Posted on Tue, 1 May 2018 by KiM

I always joke about needing more space for all the junk I seem to accumulate. When you live in a very tiny apartment there is no room for junk. This sleek, perfectly compact flat in Odessa, Ukraine is all you really need….I guess. Here are some details:  The place with an area of merely 17.3 square meters located in an old building in the very center of Odessa was inherited by the current owners. Having no idea what to do with it, they turned to Fateeva Design creative bureau. In spite of the very limited floor space and the low market value of the place, it appeared quite possible to turn it into a place for long-term rent. The idea worked out. There is a college nearby, so a student is renting this flat at the moment. The whole work started with the spatial layout solution. The customers wanted to allocate sufficient room for sleeping and working areas, as well as the kitchen and the bathroom. Surprising as it may seem, there appeared to be enough space for everything. Moreover, there is a specious hall with an ample wardrobe. All the functional zones are placed along the perimeter of the place. Neutral color scheme is chosen, so that the furniture doesn’t “steal” space from the room.

An 18th century vintage-filled cottage

I am a sucker for all things vintage, so I had to share this home in Somerset, England I found via Period Living because the homeowner clearly shares my obsession. Built in 1750 and purchased a few years back by Hana Reynolds and her family, they had the home rewired, re-plastered, a new kitchen added and the bathroom renovated. Filled with mostly traditional style antiques, a bit of mid-century and all kinds of beautiful vintage floral artwork, it is a throw-back to its roots and is absolutely charming.

Los Enamorados

Posted on Fri, 27 Apr 2018 by KiM

I would give anything to take a vacation right now. And I think I have found the perfect spot! Los Enamorados is located in northern Ibiza, in the harbour of the little seaside town of Portinatx. This little paradise hotel consists of 9 rooms, a restaurant, beach bar and little shop (which includes some vintage finds). The decor is colourful, and rustic and sooo inviting. Oh how I would love to spend a week here!
