Do you have some boring white bookcases in your home that aren’t really doing anything for ya? Add in some simple display boxes (with raw edges would be yummy, or painted in a really bold neon!), put some rope lighting behind them and BOOYAH! Now they’re making a statement! These are by Werner Mayes of north.

Last month I featured a project by Arizona interior designer Jaimee Rose. I love her style so I thought I’d share a random assortment from other projects she’s worked on. Before I leave you to enjoy this eye candy, I have to point out the fabulous light fixtures in the photo above. Would love one of those in the center of my living room. Also love her because she used my favourite wallpaper by Ellie Cashman.

What was once an 18 story steam power plant in Västerås, Sweden is now an absolutely stunning hotel complete with 227 rooms, an 800m2 spa, rooftop restaurant (and another on the main floor), outdoor terrace with pool and gorgeous views of Lake Mälaren. I just got back from a vacation south but holy smokes I am ready to re-pack my bags and head here! Thank you Thomas for the link to these photos of the Steam Hotel via Femina.

There is nothing I appreciate more than an old home with its original details maintained after a renovation, like in this West Village townhouse by Rob Stuart. This fearless family yearned for a color infused, yet calming, fresh design all with the detail and nuance of a rarified turn of the century townhouse. Vintage mantles, layered moldings, patterned wallpapers and colorful fabrics come together in this family friendly home. We nudged various walls slightly throughout the floor plan to provide for a more spacious feel. I am head over heels with this little foyer in the photo above. I love the bold yellow wallpaper for the ceiling paired with the teal light fixture. It’s an unexpected pairing with the rest of the traditional details.

In keeping with the theme of gothic industrial from my earlier post, I have had this photo stashed away for a while now and thought this was the perfect time to share it. This is a simple entrance to a home but I love the vibe here. Via Inside Out, photo by Chris Warnes.
