A minimalist retreat in Berlin

A minimalist oasis of calm sits atop a heritage building in Berlin, the home of a globe trotting entrepreneur with a killer African art collection. German interior architecture firm Dreimeta (who also designed Tuesday’s La Granja in Ibiza) has created a home as retreat, an escape from high powered, fast paced lives, a place to be surrounded by authentic materials and treasures from travels, a beautiful space to collect and recollect.

River House by Monique Gibson

I. LOVE. THIS. HOUSE. And it all starts with the room above. Dark colours, plants and all windows, with an incredible lounge chair and ottoman. LOVE!!! This entire home is absolutely stunning in white, country chic with touches of Scandinavian and French, and every room is meticulously curated. Hats of to designer Monique Gibson for nailing this one. (Warning: There are some stuffed dead birds – so those who are offended by taxidermy feel free to skip this one)

Carefully and beautifully curated rooms that are minimalist but not at all sterile. Subtle variations in colour and texture. Elegant and intentional. The hallmark of great Scandinavian design and the signature of Stockholm-based Liljencrantz Design.

A New York farmhouse by Kara Mann

Kara Mann – always a bit ballsy, and bit dramatic, a bit of glam…even when designing a farmhouse. A little something unexpected here and there that always catches my eye and makes me admire her style that much more. She painted the beautiful floorboards in the kitchen black, and to that I say HELLS YEAH!!!

(More features of Kara’s work can be found here, here and here)

South Yarra Residence

“A space that is unexpected and asymmetrically balanced using an installation of beautiful objects, the South Yarra Residence maximises every aspect. From the moment you step inside this considered home, a stone ledge and polished plaster niche immediately welcomes you. Curved walls complement the asymmetric nature of the apartment and open up the dining area to create a feeling of space.”

Slick and sophisticated, considered simplicity, understated yet luxurious. South Yarra Residence by We are Huntly.
