What can I say about this Miami house other than OMG this is NUTS and the homeowner’s love of art is quite…unusual. This is about as colourful and wacky as it gets. Designed by Frank de Biasi. 

I love a door, don’t you? It swings, it folds, it slides, it hides. The joy, the serenity of closing off the cluttered, the dirty, the ugly with a well designed door. Not that there is anything but a calm, almost zen-like quality to this contemporary mansion flat by London-based extrArchitecture. It’s like a beautifully crafted puzzle box.

It seems I didn’t take many photos this week of cats – I blame it on my hectic schedule. I did manage to capture this yesterday morning while I was lying in bed surrounded by cats. Former feral Frankie is such a big baby when he’s sleepy in bed with us. It’s the only time he’ll basically go near us. He’s an odd character. 

Also, not pets on furniture but I had to share some of my favourite photos from our visit last weekend to the Country Cat Sanctuary.

This is a beautiful 1840’s Cape Dutch farmhouse located in South Africa. I am totally smitten with its neutral decor and all the wood floors and beamed ceilings throughout. I could go on about it but I am slightly drunk (I’m writing this Saturday night) having spent a few hours hanging out at a Legion with some of my favourite people on this planet and it’s got me thinking (I clearly don’t drink much). I have a love affair with interior design (also pretty clear as Jo and I have had this blog for over 10 years) but this past week has really done a number on me. Hanging out at the Country Cat Sanctuary last Sunday whilst managing not to bring home any cats and staying late at work every day this past week with each day being more hellish than the next, and managing to find time on Wednesday evening to go see Kedi at the movie theatre which, being the crazy cat lady that I am, really moved me, and going to a vintage show yesterday and finally leaving 5 hours later where I got to meet some awesome new people (and one vendor I was hoping to visit with was at the hospital with a bleed in her brain) and spend some quality time having drinks with the always fabulous ladies of social enterprise HighJinx whose lives are devoted to helping others….it just makes me stop and think about the important things in life. Marcin and Magda Konopka of Polish design firm Ministerstwo Spraw We Wnętrzach (Ministry of Interior Affairs) has sent us photos of one of their latest projects. The other day I featured a “small” apartment in Sweden and was told that 71 m2 is not small by Swedish standards. Okidoki, my last home was 800 sq ft and yep, it was small! In this case though I think I can safely say this is a HUGE house at 300 m2 and no one is going to argue that fact. MSWW has created a warm yet modern home with light oak clad walls and floors, concrete elements, a grey colour scheme, comfy furnishings and some fun lighting.
