The star of the show might be the high ceilings. It might be the lovely large windows overlooking the communal garden or the dark oak parquet flooring. It might be the charcoal coloured staircase or the new kitchen. Any one of these could be the stand out feature of this renovated maisonette in London’s Maida Vale by Studio 29 Architects & Interior Design but for me it’s the bespoke, blown bubble chandelier in amber, lemon yellow and cyan hued glass.

Luxurious yet casual. Traditional mixed with modern. Light and dark. This modern farmhouse is a perfect example of these opposing combinations that are typical in the repertoire of California interior designer Jennifer Robin. (Another beautiful example here).

Here is Eliot. He’s a Devon Rex and acts like a dog. Greets me at the door, follows me around the house and plays fetch. It’s the unconditional love that gets me. Such a character. His Instagram is @eliot_rex

Another day another stalking. You’d never guess from its rather unassuming 19th century facade that this inner Sydney terrace house is actually an ultra modern home. There seems to be little of the original house left but sometimes living inner city means keeping true to the streetscape and doing your own thing behind closed doors. The rear elevation is quite striking and the garage with loft over is just too cute. Link here while it lasts.

The temperature has risen here about 30°C and I am dreaming of all the things I would love to do in my yard once the piles of snow melt away. My husband has made an absolute mess of the front yard by parking his work pick-up plow truck right on the front lawn so I am preparing myself to die of embarrassment when the snow is gone and we are left with a mud pile (not helping at all that we live on a very busy road). As soon as I get this post completed I am stashing a bunch of these photos away for reference. These gardens, walkways, backyards and rooftop patios by landscape architecture firm Nelson Byrd Woltz (located in Charlottesville Virginia and New York City) are soooooo beautiful. The outdoor space above is magical – I love grasses and very “feathery” plants that look like cotton candy.
