It’s Friyay!

Friday at last, the end of the working week and I couldn’t think of a better place to kick off my shoes, collapse on the couch and indulge in a chilled wine or two than this fabulous courtyard by Marylou Sobel. The rest of the Rose Bay, Sydney house is pretty special too but you’ll have to head over to the website to check it out. Then come back and join me in a drink.

Office Wild

Or perhaps that should be Office Wilde, Oscar Wilde. It certainly has drama and flair. A touch OTT from its patterned cow hide rug and statement brass desk to the flamboyant Timorous Beasties wallpaper. Just can’t see Wilde ‘s famous last words “Either this wallpaper has to go or I do” being muttered in this room. Taking its inspiration from the Cult of Beauty and the Aesthetic movement “The Pavonia Room” is by San Francisco based Geoffrey De Sousa Interior Design.

Simone Suss of London-based design firm Studio Suss takes the serious out of decor and just has fun. Elegant spaces with unexpected colour pairings, unique furnishings + art + textiles that when combined create an eclectic and visually stimulating experience. And OMG what is that art above?!?! LOVE IT!!!!

Monday’s pets on furniture

If you would like to participate in the Monday’s pets on furniture series please send photos, your name, location and a brief description to kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net, or hashtag your photos #DTIpetsonfurniture. Thanks!

This is my cat Charlie when he was just a kitten. He and his brother used to chase each other up and down this IKEA Strandmon chair; luckily it survived the wild kitten years without too much obvious wear and tear!
– Lisa (Berlin, Germany)

Baby on the gold chair.
– Peter and Donna (Allentown, PA)

These are from me. Mimin napping in the favourite cat corner, Felix discovered my new Cowboy Kate Icelandic sheepskin (with a great view of my Moooi rug from The Modern Shop and Saarinen tulip table from Alteriors), Felix settling into the depths of the fur, and the scene in bed yesterday morning when I really wanted to get up but felt horribly guilty.

Milkshake enjoying a good read on the couch. #dtipetsonfurniture #sarasotamod #dogsofinstagram

A converted school house in Battersea

Posted on Sun, 27 Nov 2016 by KiM

When you would expect someone decorating a converted lofty school house to go the industrial route but instead they go with a classic Scandinavian/shabby chic look. Kudos to the owners of this home in Battersea, London for going against the grain on this one, and for the very impressive collection of antiques. And for the cute dog. This is really beautiful. Available as a location home through Shoot Factory
