Over a year ago I featured a beautifully restored 19th century castle in Normandy, and came across it again the other day. Turns out it was designed by Elodie Sire of D.mesure and there were more photos on her website. A bit feminine and a touch of goth, featuring stained glass, herringbone hardwood, cement tiles, girly wallpaper and all sorts of vintage and mid-century furniture, it is eclectic at its best. The white dining room has me a bit perplexed, but that hardly matters as I am lost in the photo of the foyer above.

If you would like to participate in the Monday’s pets on furniture series please send photos, your name, location and a brief description to kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net. Thanks!
Here’s a photo of our new rescue dog Jimmy on our old rescue (and restored) Ercol armchair, which I found in a skip in a few years ago.

Below is Zoe from Montreal. She’s 2 and enjoys relaxing in her favorite chair while I’m at work. She a spoiled cat!!!

Here is Felix and his little shadow, Frankie (not so feral anymore) relaxing in the foyer on my leather Eames shell chair. (The flooring in there has since been redone – pics to come when all of the major work is done in a couple of weeks! If you follow me on Instagram there are some serious sneak peeks)

Bernie, also not so feral anymore, snoozing on my gorgeous Magnet lounge chair from Green Light District.

I was poking around Marie Claire Maison yesterday and came across a few homes that really captured my attention so I thought I would share a couple of them. This Marrakech home has gorgeous features that are typical of Moroccan architecture but the owners have spiced things up with some mid-century modern furnishings. A quirky combination, and I love it.

The second home I wanted to share belongs to Rick Vintage of Dutch wallpaper design studio NLXL. It is an almost 300 year old farm in the Netherlands that he had renovated for him and his family. Now this is how you modernize a very old structure while maintaining some of the original glory like the support ceiling beams.

I have been having heart palpitations since coming across the website of kitchen company Cuisines Steam from nearby Montréal. Foodies and design enthusiasts Brigitte Boulanger and Jean Côté joined forces and passions to create these absolutely stunning modern kitchens with streamlined cabinetry in black, white and wood. Epically staged and photographed to boot! Their site is one I am bookmarking and hopefully one day can call them up when I tire of my current kitchen (and can hopefully make it larger).

Someone yesterday left a comment that it seems just about EVERY post highlights work that showcases only white walls and themes. I would like to prove this person wrong with this post of spaces by Australian interior designer Cameron Kimber. Only featuring a few white walls. “Three words dominate my designs: comfort, relaxation, and elegance. My aim is that every room in the house has an over-all look and feel of comfort and relaxation with certain panache – a touch of the unexpected but always being very polished.”
