A log home with stone floors (where the logs aren’t stained some ghastly orange/yellow tone) is honestly one of the most beautiful and comforting style of homes. This absolute delight located in St-Alexis, Québec was designed by Blanc Marine Intérieurs, and while in my youth I might have thought the coolest thing in the world would be to live in a huge industrial loft, in my old age it’s a well-done log cabin. They are easy to get wrong but this one is oh so right. Photos: Photographie Intérieure.

A neutral, timeless and classic home in Nashville, designed by Samantha Stein, is loaded with all the details you need. There’s a library/bar chill space, a to-die-for kitchen with butler’s pantry of my dreams and cool marble-front sink accent, built-in space for dog bowls, cozy banquette dining nook, laundry room with built-in cat litter area, all weather porch…and the list goes on! Villa Serenella is within the regional park of the Euganean hills, in the province of Padua, set on the offshoot of the Colle di Monte Merlo. The original nucleus of the Villa dates back to the end of the 17th century, but it was in the first decades of the 19th century that the complex was enlarged. The central villa is spread over 5 floors of which the first three are 250 square meters each while the other two are large (20sqm). The property requires a total renovation to bring it back to its former glory but the supporting structure of the property is solid and in good condition. The villa is surrounded by a large romantic English park embellished by two towers separated from the villa, one of which is used as a colombara. Both completely served by the general services, but to be restored. The park of competence of the property is about ten hectares, mostly wooded, well maintained and with many wells scattered for electrical and/ or hydraulic connections.

This is pretty close to English-style perfection for me. I’d throw in a bit more colour and a bit more pattern but otherwise I really love everything these ladies do.

Designer Cara Woodhouse and her family live in this fabulous modernist Long Island ranch and in her typical bold, graphic and step-outside-the-box way, she has created a whimsical space filled with circles and curves that really add warmth and a level of coziness. I would not have expected this vibe to work so well in this style of home but she really nailed it. I would have loved growing up in a house like this. So inspiring!
