The beauty of comfort

Posted on Wed, 29 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

Of the things we women have worn in the name of beauty. Whale bone corsets, sky high stilettos, boob tubes with bubble skirts and anything neon. Trends and torture. These lovely spaces are like cashmere sweaters, supple hand tooled leather loafers and the caress of a swing of silk on your body. Timeless, beautiful and comfortable. Bathroom dreams

Soaker tub at the end of the bed and a wonderful wet room. Don’t even get me started on the tiles creeping into the wooden floor. Bathroom dreams are made of these. Franklin Street Loft by New York-based design/build and interiors firm Studio DB.

What I want

Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

I want to sit on that sofa, rifle through the cupboards, flick the light switches on and off, pour myself a drink and pat the dog. I want to squish my toes into all the rugs, work in that office, run my fingers across the bathroom stone, take shelter from the midday sun in the cabana and swim in the pool. What I really want is this Hollywood Hills house by Veneer Designs.

Streamline Moderne

Posted on Mon, 27 Jun 2016 by midcenturyjo

Interior designer Chad McPhail has lovingly brought this 1930’s Art Deco Streamline Moderne home into the new century, refreshing and reinventing but not slavishly restoring. All the Deco details are there but in the hands of Los Angles-based McPhail the home is sophisticated and stylish, modern but not modernised. Beautifully created and curated, inside and out.

Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say time and again. If you have to drag your sorry self into work on a Saturday then it certainly helps if it’s somewhere cool. Like the offices of Epoch Films by L.A. based Reath Design.
