Another interior by Parisian design firm Kierszbaum Intérieurs. Another celebration of colour and texture, eras and styles. Another fabulous French home.
Australian design is shining at the moment. Like a beacon for modern living, honest, crafted, all about light and connection with the outdoors, the interactions between people and living space, respect for the old and exultation of the new. It’s on my bucket list to visit if I ever get to New York but can you imagine if this was your workplace? I’d never want to go home. I’d work for free. A florist shop makes me happy even if it’s just a blank room and some buckets of flowers but this, oh this is so much more. Saipua, design by Tacklebox Architecture.
I’m rounding out the week with another project from French design firm GCG Architectes, a rooftop home and garden terrace. The architects modified an off-the-plan house, streamlining, ironing out layout problems, improving functionality and brightness. Then the fun began with interiors by Kierszbaum Intérieurs. Eclectic in style, exuberant in taste, fun and fab meets OTT, it is like a magpie collection of trinkets and treasures. Just when you think you cannot take any more there is the garden. Oh the garden. A little piece of paradise on the banks of the Seine.

Or should that be the skeleton on the ceiling? It may be the deal breaker if you want to come on my virtual getaway to this loft style apartment in Tribeca, New York which ticks all the boxes. Exposed brick walls, light streaming in the the tall windows, a mini jungle, curios on industrial style shelves, great kitchen… and the skeleton above the dining table. I’ve been staring at it for ages trying to work out what the model is actually of. Ichthyosaur? Prehistoric razor toothed dolphin? A cousin of the Loch Ness Monster? It would certainly make for an interesting dinner party conversation. Franklin Place is available through onefinestay.
