Black and white

Crisp, contemporary lines in classic black and white. A modern kitchen in classic black and white with a hint of the tradition in the bay window and shutters. I often overlook those little socks on bentwood chairs and stools but don’t they pop in this space. PRK Residence in Melbourne by Biasol: Design Studio.

It’s no secret that Kim and I are very partial to a church conversion and this Methodist Chapel conversion is so sweet and very clever. One of my biggest complaints of this sort of re-design is that the beautiful, tall windows are often unceremoniously chopped in half by the second floor. In this case the upper rooms are tucked in under the roof. The Chapel on the Hill, in Forest-in-Teesdale, England by Evolution Design is available as a holiday home for up to 7 guests. I can feel a virtual road trip on the cards? Meet you in church?

(And in case you hadn’t realised it was a winner in the UK Property Awards 2015-2016.)

Simply lovely

The serenely beautiful, plant filled house shared by Kim on Sunday (here… swoon) belongs to stylist and art director Liza Giles and her architect husband. It’s easy to see that she worked for Designers Guild for many years. That lovely green, the freshness, the botanicals. I couldn’t help myself. I had to share a little more of her work with Tricia Guild. Simply lovely.

Classic comfort in the city

A peaceful oasis in the hustle and bustle of inner-city Sydney. Layers of colour, pattern and texture. Layers of personal trinkets and memories. A palette of bone, ecru and licorice and a more classic sense of style imbues an almost country comfort. Surry Hills apartment by Natasha Levak for Coco Republic.

A light filled loft

I do like a light filled loft. Yes I do. Almost as much as I love steel framed industrial windows, the tiniest touch of retro, books and all of the lighting in this light filled loft. Love the high concrete ceilings, the exposed pipes and the Douglas fir floors. Love it all. London loft apartment by Cloud Studios.
