I cannot think of a better place to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city than this verdant terrace. The rest of the townhouse is pretty amazing too. From the portfolio of Robert Passal.
It’s Wednesday. Hump day. Time for a virtual getaway to the Ardennes region of Belgium, to La Micheline, an old railway station now a holiday home set amongst meadows. If the impressive renovation and rebuild using bluestone, rough hewn wood and concrete isn’t enough to get your design juices running there’s even an old railway line with trolleys. The gîte is the creation of architectural photographers Anne and Jean-Luc Laloux and is a sister property to La Classe which we featured here.
Because they mix old and new so well. Because family living can be stylish. Because Spanish tile gets me every time. That’s why I wanted to share more fabulous apartment from Meritxell Ribé and The Room Studio.
Where else but Australia would a home owner sacrifice existing living space when renovating so they can squeeze in a pool in the backyard. This Little Napier Street house in Paddington, Sydney by Bureau SRH combines two historic terrace houses to create a family home where the line between inside and out is blurred and the kids just want to have fun. Happy Australia Day!
Love this bedroom by New York-based Kwinter & Co. The rug, the nail detail to the headboard, the retro vibe to the furniture and the art. Hang it all I’ll just settle for the rug if push came to shove.
