Midcentury marvellous

I can’t make up my mind what I like better about this apartment. The stellar midcentury furniture collection, the equally impressive art selection or the fact that it is alive with colour and light. I know I’d move in in a heart beat. They don’t call me Midcentury Jo for nothing. Fairview from the portfolio of Chris Nguyen of Analog Dialog.

Working on a Saturday

My position stays the same week after week. If you have to drag your sorry arse into work on a Saturday it better be somewhere stylish. After drooling over the retro offices of Moscow-based interior design studio A3 I’m planning on learning Russian.

Здравствуйте, меня зовут Джо. Я хотел бы найти работу.”

Stalking in the same street part 2

Here’s my second house for the day. Remember the back story. Same suburb, same street, a few meters separate them. A timber cottage with just a touch of gingerbread about it but what’s that I see? A modern extension (with self-contained studio) and a glass pool! It’s almost tipping the balance in favour of this home. Which one is your favourite? Sandstone or gingerbread? Link here while it lasts.

P.S. You can see more of that pool here.

Stalking in the same street part 1

First stalking of the year and I’m excited. (Beats chest. Bellows loudly. Frightens neighbour’s children.) I’m in Rozelle, Sydney and but it’s not just one home I’m stalking. It’s two. Two houses, same suburb, same street, separated by scant meters. I’m partial to both, can’t afford either but my love affair with small heritage cottages with architect extensions continues. First the sandstone house. Link here while it lasts.

Holding court

I’d never get out of bed. You would all have to make a pilgrimage to visit me. With a tangle of hair and a killer vintage bed jacket I’d be holding court, drink in hand, a young something standing attentively to fulfill my every barked order. New York loft by Rick Joy Architects.
