InForm Design +2

One more from InForm Design, a townhouse, one of three in a row. Contemporary Australian design done well. I think my favourite bit is the hallway/staircase. I love the sense of transition, the attention given to the process of travel between public and private, the light that floods into what could have been a long, dark corridor.

InForm

From design to construction, that’s the holistic approach of Melbourne-based InForm Design. Their Alphington house consists of two halves. The two-storey ‘Quad’ front section is designed to take advantage of park views from the first floor master bedroom and lounge. Out back is a single storey pavilion containing the living areas separated by a concrete block double-sided fireplace. These spaces spill out to the alfresco entertaining spaces and pool.

Escape 2

I’m still running away from a horrid day. You’ll find me in Tecolutla, Veracruz, Mexico at Hotel Azúcar. I’ll save you a hammock.

Escape

Some days start with such promise then come crashing down. Some days just suck. Some days I wish I could run away to a hideaway where  the rooms are simple yet beautiful, the tick of the clock is actually the sound of a giant irrigator in a far field and the view is a never ending paddock of rich brown soil. No disturbances, no responsibilities, no one else. Today I’d like to run away to Quamby Home, a newly renovated 1870s holiday house in rural Tasmania. If you decide to run away yourself one day you can take 9 of your family and friends with you. Today I’ll just escape by myself.

Stalking 2

One suburb over from the last house we stalked is this Balmain beauty. Co-incidentally it’s listed with the same agent. Fabulous inside outside living areas and a casual elegance to the house. Interiors are by Sarah Davison. Link here while it lasts.
