Reinterpreting the historical vernacular of Paddington, Sydney Aileen Sage Architects have turned their new build to focus inwards on a series of courtyard spaces and a rooftop garden. With sliding and folding walls of windows and doors the interior connects with the outdoors allowing flexibility of use. Private, intimate, family oriented, a secret garden, an oasis, a place to close the door and welcome the family with open arms.

Rich, jewel like accents mixed with metallics and mirror play against a neutral base and beautiful light flooding in through large windows in this small apartment by Vancouver-based Peter Wilds Design. The mirror box bedroom is big on style if small in size. Just as impressive is that the feel of the space can be refreshed as simply as changing out the colours of the accessories.

A clever redesign of a small one bedroom apartment in inner city Sydney makes better use of the existing space without losing the character of this older style dwelling. The key was to make a small study area the bedroom with movable walls that borrow space from the bathroom and hallway. The original bedroom then becomes a dining room connecting to the living area, a luxurious addition to small space living in the heart of the city. Byron Hall Apartment by Stephen Collier Architects.
