Stalking leftovers

It’s that time of the week again. Stalking leftovers. Lovely homes? Yes… well… er… maybe. You see I am very finicky when it comes to my virtual real estate stalking. Fussy, particular, choosy, picky and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable, can’t quite put my finger on it listings but all with something that has me nodding “yes”. It might even be something as simple as a cool staircase. This week I seem to have got stuck in Sydney with just a short side trip to Melbourne but you’ll find a designer’s apartment (not really a leftover), an apartment more about the view and the beach than the space itself and another that is probably just good CGI because no one has an apartment with that much cool stuff. Colour pop

Need a boost into the weekend? How about this fab house by Melbourne icon of all things colour and fun, Fenton & Fenton? Take a neutral background, add a little Fenton & Fenton magic and watch it fizz and pop.

Stalking a kitchen with a garden view

Can you buy a house just because of a kitchen and its garden courtyard outlook? I think you can. The rest of the house is nice (I’m sure it looks fab in real life) but it’s the breakfast window seating and that wall of plants clinging to the Sydney sandstone outcrop that has me in a twirl. I’m stalking in surprisingly leafy Paddington on a very busy road but from these photos you’d never know. Link here while it lasts.

Story

Time to take some inspiration from our favourite Finnish interior architect Joanna Laajisto and one of her latest projects, Story, in the Old Market Hall, Helsinki. There are so many ideas to steal from this space. Love the lighting including the old fish trap installation, the colour combinations, the paint with trim finishing part way up the wall, the vertical herringbone tile and the brass kick plate to pick up on a few. As much as the photos really, really make me want to try a meal at Story, they make me start rethinking my kitchen even more.
