Little jewel box

Like a little indie jewel box for an indie jewellery designer. The cutest bijou shop in Melbourne by Inglis Architects for Lucy Folk. I couldn’t pass by. I would just have to pop in.

Altereco encore

Good design, plain and simple. Time for an encore appearance by Melbourne based builder designers Altereco. This Barwon Heads house is open plan with crisp, modern lines, a restrained colour palette and materials. Simple yes. Stylish definitely.

Stalking leftovers

Posted on Sat, 21 Jun 2014 by midcenturyjo

It’s that time of the week. Time to stalk the leftovers, the ones that made the cut then didn’t because I hummed and hawed and changed my mind. Why? I’m very fussy. Call me particular, finicky, choosy and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, I need more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable or no furniture at all! Can’t quite put my finger on it listings with something that has me nodding “yes”. This week’s finds include a couple of 70s gems just waiting for a second chance including one with a velour ceiling, my usual smattering of tiny terrace houses and, because it is winter here, outdoor spaces to remind me of summer. Stalking a little blue terrace

Posted on Fri, 20 Jun 2014 by midcenturyjo

It’s no secret that I love these little terrace houses. I love the way that people live their lives in homes that are only a few metres wide. How do they cram in all their “stuff”? Do they look cluttered? Is it necessarily a spartan life or a hoarder’s horror? I wouldn’t be able to resist stalking this powder blue end of terrace with its perky red door if I was walking past in real life. What’s inside? Can I peak through the window? Thank goodness for virtual stalking! Come on in. Let’s look around. The link for this Surry Hills, Sydney home is here while it lasts.
