Still stalking

I’m in St Kilda, Melbourne and I’m so attracted to the bones of this old building. A great blank canvas to create the dream apartment. A bit more layering, a touch more colour (but not too much), a rug or two to showcase the beauty of those old floors and a look that is less “home staged” and more stylin’ home. Yes please! Link here while it lasts.

Arthur Casas

An overdose of exceptional architecture with today’s firm. São Paulo and New York based Studio Arthur Casas draws inspiration from Brazil’s history of modernist design, takes a considered approach to the environment and a holistic approach to the many layers of their designs from furniture to urban planning. It’s cosmopolitan, contemporary and just a little sexy. It was hard to narrow down which of the projects to feature. Finally I chose the Qunita Da Baroness house in São Paulo. I think you will understand why.

Stalking behind industrial walls

What lies behind this brick wall? A workshop? A warehouse? A fallen in roof and a pile of pigeon poop? How about a serene oasis of painted brick walls, wooden beams, soaring ceilings and a restrained neutral palette. Simply stylish. Simply cool. A perfect base for inner city living. An escape from the hurly burly. A lovely conversion of an old embroidery factory. Unfortunately (for me) now sold.  Link here.

Quirky British

It may have plain white walls and simple dark floors but that is all that is plain and simple about this London home. When Brits do quirky then it is all personality plus. Not sure if I could live here but I’d be always popping round for a visit. Fine pieces and found pieces and swathes and swatches. Fab house via fab locations site Shootfactory.

Brisbane based interior design firm Wrightson Stewart create sleek, stylish, masculine spaces, clean lined and contemporary. Their work is sharp like a well honed knife cutting through the frou frou and excessive. Unless you like your minimalist luxury in excess that is. With their latest design for a Teneriffe Warehouse Apartment shortlisted for both the Australian Interior Design Awards 2013 and 2013 HOUSES Award (and coming soon to Desire to Inspire, right guys?) principals Steven Stewart and Ian Wrightson have shared images of their inner city studio and a pop up bar for the La Boite Theatre with us to whet our appetites until the awards are announced.
