Monday means escape day. Run away from the beginning of the work week and dream of faraway places. Enter the dark and moody luxury of the Canal House boutique hotel in Amsterdam’s Jordaan district. Waiting within is a secret green oasis bathed in dappled light. Light and dark, old and new, drawing inspiration from Dutch history and art. Shall we run away to the dark side? Work can wait.

The latest edition of Llamas’ Valley magazine is live. The Autumn issue explores the faded beauty of the season. Perfect places, imperfect people. Editor-in-Chief Alge Ramanauskiene has sent us a teaser. It’s the beautiful home of Venetian family Brittany Hymore and Daniele Vallot, interior designer and her architect husband. Photography by Milda Bendoraityte. Head over to Llamas’ Valley‘s new website to find the Autumn issue and so much more.

Part design studio, part bike showroom this small warehouse conversion in Richmond, Melbourne by Auhaus brings whimsy and fun to the streetscape. The timber facade mimics the picket fences of the neighbouring houses and hints at city skylines. The Mondrian style window that replaces a roller door lets in light and frames the views in and out.

One day, when I grow up, I will own an old house with amazing period features, in an overgrown jungle of a garden, a stone’s throw to all the inner city action. Leadlights and archways, fireplaces and sunrooms, winding stairs and balconies with potted plants, a rooftop conservatory and sundeck with views to the city skyline. It will have a name like “Friars” and I will fill it with my treasures and be very, very happy. This could almost be my dream house. I’d just have to change that dining room. The curtains are killing me! Maybe some rugs in the living room. Get rid of the wall to wall carpeting. More books in the family room. Those shelves are screaming out to be filled. See I’m making plans already. Stalking in Centennial Park, Sydney. Link here while it lasts.

Could you live in 28 square metre apartment? I don’t think I could. Where would I put all my stuff? I’m such a hoarder. But I’m always fascinated by clever spatial solutions to living small. A puzzle box of an apartment in Madrid, Spain by Beriot Bernardini Arquitectos.
