September issue of Inside Out

Posted on Wed, 7 Aug 2013 by midcenturyjo

What can we expect from the latest issue of Inside Out magazine? Fabulous homes and inspiration of course. Like the home of jewellery designer Megan Perkins. Or should I say her parents’ home. That’s right. She moved back in with her parents but when your oldies have such an amazing house (her dad actually built it) where’s the problem?! Writer/stylist Natalie Walton and photographer Chris Warnes of Warnes & Walton take us inside this stunning family space.

Aussie readers will of course be heading to the newsagents to pick up their copy out today. (That’s if you don’t already subscribe.) Don’t fret if you aren’t in Australia though because you can read along on ZinioGoogle Play and the Apple Newsstand!

Double dipping

I needed to dip back into the portfolio of Milan-based Studiopepe. Edgy, confident, passionate and rich. Inspiration aplenty in these retail installations. Enough to make me want to move in. Coveting is a sin right?

Painterly

There is something about photographer Tara Donne‘s work that reminds me of old masters’ paintings. The composition, the lush light, the colours, oh the rich, rich colours. Perhaps the choice of subject matter. The beauty in the everyday, the drama of a vase of flowers. Inspiration comes from so many places.

Deceptively simple

Step inside this black clad house designed by Danish firm Wienberg Architects and you enter a still world, a series of spaces that are calm and zen like. A carefully curated collection of colour and materials, black and white, concrete and wood veneer, strokes the senses. Soft and hard, warm and stark. Beautiful details only emphasis the simplicity.

An incredible retail concept by Milan based Studiopepe for Spotti. Concrete crush.
