While it was renovated not too long ago, it required additional work on the interiors to improve functionality and have the design ‘feel like them’. We updated finishes and lighting, created new millwork moments for storage and rethought the space planning of the main floor to accommodate their needs as a family.”

Since March 2020, Electric Bowery‘s Cayley Lambur and her family have resided in Big Sur, CA, revitalizing a Mickey Muennig property. The estate includes upgraded structures and gardens for family and friends, providing a quintessential coastal retreat. The main house, restored to enhance outdoor connections, features local materials and informal furnishings. Renovations included a custom kitchen and a warm, earthy palette. A restored trailer serves as additional guest quarters and a remote office, complementing the home’s cohesive design.

The transformation of Mosman House has created a bright, airy coastal residence. Initially focusing on structural improvements, the clients seized the chance to craft a home reflecting their lifestyle. Emphasizing beauty and functionality, Sydney-based studio Partridge Daniels redesigned the layout for better light and flow. A natural palette enhances the aesthetic. Notable features include a marble kitchen island, a scalloped fireplace, and a wool installation. Improved staircases, enlarged bedrooms, and a basement gym complete the transformation.

“Constructed in limestone rubble of a simple two-cell layout, the structure was carefully reworked by the owners Charlotte Boyens and Adam Scott, founders of the architecture practice, FreeState. With staggering sensitivity to the style and use of historic features, the house maintains references to original orientations around the font, altar, and windows.”

The remodel of a California Mid-Century home by Studio Meghan Eisenberg, originally designed and built by Meghan’s grandfather, Donald Park, in 1950, pays homage to its architectural heritage. Inspired by the original design details, the finish palette was playfully updated to revive the home with a warm sensibility. For furnishings, 60’s Ranch House decor was referenced, introducing traditional fabrics and classical silhouettes into the post and beam setting.
