Thank you Nathalie Priem for letting me feature your wonderful interior photography with our readers (including that beautiful pets on furniture entry). Nathalie has done alot of work for British real estate firm Domus Nova that Jo and I are huge fans of, and it turns out she has photographed the best properties they have had on their roster. These are some of my favourites of her work.

Attached is a picture of our 2 yr. old English setter/lab mix, Gracie, and Holly, our 10 month old butterscotch tabby on our antique Tibetan tea table repurposed as a bench.  They are the best of buddies and keep the local population of squirrels and bunnies on their toes.  Gracie was a rescue that had a long journey to us from New Mexico through Texas, and finally to Colorado.  Holly was rescued from a local shelter as a tiny kitten.

This is my male border mutt Daizy. I had fully intended to pick up a female at the local shelter, having viewed her online. But Daizy stole my heart and ended up with a girls name:) He likes to recline in his living area while I work from the office in the next room.

A couple from me. I was working at my desk in the living room Saturday, turned around and noticed 7 cats sprawled in various spots in the room with me. This photo captures 4 of them. The one on the far left if feral Bernie, and the one on the far right is feral Frankie. 🙂 The second photo is Felix, taking up most of the sofa. I found that vintage wool Department of National Defense blanket at the Ottawa Makers Market via Melting Plastic. The pillows on the left are by Fotofibre and on the right are by Kaya Kilims. 

As the story goes, there once was a boy whose mother was a gallery owner. When the boy was 14, he asked for a Vespa, and was instead given a Joe lounge chair by de Pas, D’Urbino and Lomazzi. Many years later the boy now lives in a beautiful home in Milan with his wife and children. The home was formerly 6 apartments and is now a wonderfully eclectic family home with amazing artwork on display and yes, some classic statement furniture. I love how the canvas printed with a photo above is hanging without the use of a stretcher (might steal this idea for over my living room sofa). Via The Socialite Family, photos: Constance Gennari.

TGIF! It’s been a hellish week at my day/desk job and I am so grateful the weekend is here! To end off the work week, I thought I would share this really cool idea for a side table – consisting of concrete blocks and a clamp light. It does not get much simpler than that! Industrial vibe, cheap and easy…and comes with built-in shelves! 😉 Via The New Design Project

I had to share another Brooklyn row house with you, again by architect Lorraine Bonaventura, because I cannot get enough. 1850’s house was completely restored after being taken down to the brick…Mantels were restored, plaster work recast, herringbone floors meticulously restored and replaced, new limestone and antique french oak floors added to kitchen and dining level. Every surface was completely redone, rebuilt or restored. Radiant heating, air conditioning was added, brick work repointed, new sand cast iron exterior railings, brownstone facade replaced, new weight and chain mahogany windows with antique glass, all wood moldings replaced to replicate original moldings, original window shutters restored. It’s essentially a brand new house! But with character! This home has such lovely details…it’s unfortunate that the decor is bland (IMHO) – I would have added so much more drama with some (better) colour, and a bit of pattern, and some statement light fixtures. Oh, I could dream about what I would do to this home for hours. (Photos via Houzz)
