Mid-century modern in the English countryside

Posted on Fri, 2 Jun 2017 by KiM

A whole pile of mid-centry modern/retro fabulousness to end off the work week. Surrounded by beautiful English countryside, this vast new-build features floor-to-ceiling windows which highlight the stunning rural location. The sensation of bringing the outside in is further emphasised through the open-plan layout which flows seamlessly from room to room, offering the perfect space for socialising. Teeming with unexpected details at every turn, iconic pieces such as an Eero Saarinen table and Warren Platner chair elevate the space from ordinary to extraordinary. A unique sunken lounge exquisitely framed by a statement pendant and futuristic basement bar with a cinema and music room offer areas for both formal and informal entertaining in this inviting country home. Texture and tribal

Modern global. It’s all about layering textures and patterns from around the world. In this home, by Logan Killen Interiors, African is mixed with Middle Eastern, modern with vintage, the silkiness of velvets against nubbly natural fibres and roughly hewn wood. Kuba cloth and kilim… perfect.

Opulent spaces by Lori Morris

Unparalleled luxury. Opulent elegance. Traditional without boundaries. An avant-garde edge. Extraordinarily dramatic. Toronto-based designer Lori Morris is a force to be reckoned with. I cannot express enough how much I admire her boldness and originality. And her love of obscenely ornate moldings that make me want to cry tears of pure joy.

Stalking scandi industrial

Industrial glamour in the gritty inner city. Concrete, timber, stone and a modern scandi colour palette of greys, blacks and blush pinks. I’m stalking in Redfern, Sydney and the link is here while it lasts.

A New York residence by Current Interiors

A bit contemporary, a bit modern, a bit edgy. Totally approachable spaces that are totally awesome. Gotta love bits of brass, some neon and a middle finger. A rad home in Scarsdale, NY by Current Interiors. (Photos: Andrea Calo)
