Perch!

Posted on Sun, 12 Oct 2008 by KiM

Perch! is a company based in Brooklyn whose products are all handmade and environmentally friendly, and available through 2Modern. They have the cutest bird feeders and lighting, and I am officially smitten. Take note that they have a variety of colour options for most of their products. I found a great branch on the tree in front of my house that would be perfect for a feeder to keep my cats entertained, but alas, I live in the hood, and I don’t think a feeder this cute would last. But perhaps one of these wall sconces or lamps…

John Ellis, of Santa Monica, California is a skilled photographer having shot for such prestigious shelter magazines as Metropolitan Home, Interior Design, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, Dwell and others. My favourite is the photo above, from a Benjamin Moore catalogue. LOVE the pink and teal, colours I totally adore.

I want this bathroom!

I was real estate stalking…. again, when I came across this great idea for a bathroom vanity. Find yourself an interesting deco dresser, remove the mirror (better still find one without – it will be so much cheaper), install the plumbing and then you’ll have the perfect one off vanity for your very understated red bathroom. I’ve included a couple more photos just to give you a feel of the warehouse this bathroom is in. Unfortunately not enough fabulous photos to satisfy my curiosity. One question though. Why don’t people clean before the real estate photos? The dirty marks on the doors are driving me crazy and the soap scum on the red tiles? It must go 🙂

Great composition and interesting crops. The portfolio is so stylish but what else did you expect from one of the best photographers around? Click on them to drink in all the goodness. Love it!

Shakti Space Designs

I wanted to share with you all the incredible (and painstaking) faux and decorative painting by Lucinda of Shakti Space Designs, based in Portland. She recently worked with an interior designer (Garrison Hullinger) on a basement lounge project that I was so impressed with. As Lucinda pointed out, decorative painting techniques go far beyond sponging and rag rolling. This project is surely proof of that. There is a plastered stencil circle design that looks like wallpaper and a faux crocodile skin tabletop and countertop.

I am so impressed that someone has the patience to do something like this. Lucinda, I applaud you.

The designer was apparently inspired by David Hicks. I would say so…
