Nina wrote us recently with a request: “I am finally undertaking a major renovation of our house, and am updating it to be more interesting, modern, and functional. As part of this, I want to change the shape of our boring arch-ways between rooms (living and hallway, and kitchen and hallway). Do you have any pictures like that? My house is otherwise rectangular and boring, and I want to do some different for those pass throughs.” Most people don’t bother to spruce up something as simple as an archway – love that you’re choosing to be creative with yours Nina! Here’s some inspiration for you.

I think that a fabulous wallpaper, splash of color, moldings or a gallery are all great ways to go with the archway – often a neglected space. Lovely pics, Kim!

Wow, those arches are just beautiful!

Funny I always had a thing against those awful 70s archways in apartments. Plain and no reason for them. These I love 🙂

whoever thought of putting cushions in a bathroom (fifth row from the top) is a genius.. gorgeous!

Thank you for this interesting topic. I have long narrow hall and I never thought to break it up with an archway– perfect solution!

The sightline through the archway in that Angus McRitchie shot is insane! (In a good way.)
…I'm seeing fancy brackets in my living room doorway now…
Thanks for the inspiration, Kim!
