If you’d like to send me photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow my basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to email@example.com PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)
This is my boxer, Stringer Bell sitting in is HIS chair. The chair is a vintage piece my neighbor had placed on the curb. He said it was taking up space and was setting it out for bulk trash day. I scooped it up and it found it’s place in my living room…after a good washing. The dog, Stringer Bell, named after the character from ‘The Wire’, was supposed to be an aborted puppy along with his three brothers. I worked a vet clinic where a client came in with a near-to-term pregnant boxer. She said she “didn’t have time for puppies” and she needed to spay her dog immediately. The doctor reluctantly obliged but the vet techs, myself included, had other plans to remove the puppies and hand rear them. Stringer Bell was the one I pulled out and helped him breathe his first breath. I bottle fed him, my chihuahua trained him, and we all loved him. My foster puppy soon became another very much loved addition to our family. And the chair….well the chair was a perfect lookout point and a great place for Stringer Bell to sit like the gentleman he is.

Indy thinks all pieces of furniture in our house belong to him. Here he is sitting proudly in my armchair, and then lounging on the large couch we designed and built ourselves.
– Stephanie (Mid Coast, Maine)
Hibou might only weigh 3lbs, but she definitely knows how to pick the best seat in the house!

I have a picture of my dog on a sofa for you. I’m the next door neighbour.
Her name is Piper. And she is rather ridiculous.
On the bed is my beloved pit bull Crystal. She’s a little spoiled.

Booger Kitty. Spoiled. That about sums it up.
what a great story about the boxer, and so he should sit there so proud! :o)
Love Stringer Bell's story, Kate, you are a gem!
Love love the fact that your dog is called Stringer Bell after the Wire. No wonder he looks super cool on his chair. All in the game, yo!
I am so heartened to see others want to comment on Stringer Bell's story. I've volunteered in a veterinary emergency clinic so really appreciate Kate and other vet techs who decided to hand rear the pups whose births were forced. It's unthinkable the mother dog was not simply allowed to go full-term. I'm all for spaying but to time it like that was needlessly risky for the mother dog, could have been a death sentence for her litter (as I believe was the owner's intent) and incredibly selfish of the owner.
Julia, out of Miami looks fabulous she really got potential on the next Chihuahua movie.
I think Julia is just gorgeous. She is has a definite future in modeling. I don't believe the fame and fortune will not change her. She's a natural. Her brother Thomas is very handsome but just dosen't like to have his pic taken. What a shame.
The first story about the boxer makes my heart ache a bit. Such a touching story. We just lost our boxer to cancer a month ago. She and Stringer Bell could have been siblings. 🙂
I love boxers! She is beautiful. All these photographs are gorgeous.
I love Crystal, pitties are the best 🙂
