Cicero

Posted on Thu, 5 Jun 2014 by KiM

Tommaso Guerra contacted us about his newest interior design project and I absolutely love it and had to share. This can easily translate into designs for the home so get your imaginations going!

A bistro in the heart of Prati district in Rome, open from the early morning until late night:
pastel colours, light wood and colourful fabrics with varied fantasies.
A marriage between nature and serenity.
I figured that going at “Cicero” might be an harmony and finesse experience;
a beautiful space to live, in Nordic atmosphere.
Sitting in a under a large mid-air nest;
enjoying lunch as in a forest, between wood birds houses;
looking up and discovering 55 shades falling out…
The mature interpretation of fairy tale, the inspiration becomes game.
Welcome to “Cicero”.

Stalking the 70s 40 years on

Posted on Thu, 5 Jun 2014 by midcenturyjo

First home buying in Australian capital cities can sometimes mean sad, down at heels 70s apartments (or 60s or 80s… you know what I mean). Cheap and often larger than their modern counterparts the temptation is to paint, change the flooring, slap up some white tiles in the bathroom and figure out how to fit in an IKEA kitchen. Not in this case. Here’s how you bring the 70s right up to date. Not your everyday cookie cutter first apartment. Stalking a funky pad in Armadale, Melbourne. Link here while it lasts.

A long, narrow, one bedroom apartment in a complex with great facilities. So often the private space pales in comparison with the public areas. But the girl with the pearl earring seems to have settled in a stylish pad. 80 m²and in most part only 3.2 m wide. Slick finishes, mirror and drama. Stalking an apartment in Redfern, Sydney. The Herringbone

Similar to The Oyster Catcher that Jo had featured a few months back, The Herringbone is another holiday rental property of photographer Paul Massey in Mousehole, Cornwall, UK. After the week I have had I would love nothing more than to leave everything at home (cats, electronics, real estate agents, maybe even husband) and spend a few days here with nothing but good food and good books. *SIGH* (Via Unique Home Stays)

Railway House

I love a well-executed conversion. This one is a former railway cottage situated between a railway line and a national park in Velsen, The Netherlands. It was designed by ZW6 Interiors and is such a beautiful marriage of old heritage and modern aesthetics. Steel, concrete & glass blend magically with greenery, crumbled brick and wooden beams. What a dream house.
