Butterfly chair

Today I bring you a bit of chair porn, in the form of the butterfly chair. I have loved this chair for ages. I am fond of the shape (coincidentally, similar to that of a butterfly!), the sort of camp-y vibe of the frame (you can fold it up, stick it under your arm and go), and when it has a solid steel base and done in caramel or black leather, it is just heavenly. But beware, they can look very cheap and frail depending on how much you are willing to spend and where you buy from. My friends at Green Light Shop in Toronto have one in caramel leather – when they were located here in Ottawa I may have fondled it once or twice while visiting the shop. 🙂 So here is a roundup of butterfly chairs for your viewing pleasure. Have a lovely weekend!

As I've said before on this website: I LOVE the butterfly chair. Seeing these in this post recall my memories of the first one I saw as a child in the living room of the architect and his family who had recently moved into the house next door. I was accustomed to traditional furniture and the butterfly chairs intrigued me. They still do. I love mine. Thank you for more beautiful photos of them.

I´m also a big fan – Interesting to note that the BKF is a design chair whose first Argentine prototype was created at the end of 1938 by architects Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy who met thanks to their attendance at the Parisian atelier of Le Corbusier.

@Sparky 🙂
@JULIE – I knew nothing about the history of this chair – thanks!

Seats that you show is unique and comfortable. To rest and relax, this chair is suitable for anyone. For example, while sitting in a chair with a view outside while enjoying a drink on the terrace.

Love butterfly chairs, especially the ones made of leather as that can withstand great wear and tear. Also like good quality leather shows, leather chairs mould to the human body better than anything else. I love these Roost chairs. Great quality. I should know, have had a chair for 5 years now!
