Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 20 Oct 2014 by KiM

If you would like to send me photos to include in next week’s pets on furniture post, please ensure your photos follow these basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, if the photo is too dark or unfocused it may not make the cut. Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[at]desiretoinspire[dot]net. Thanks!

Here is a quick picture of our little Dahlia, a Great Pyrenees sort of dog. She is not allowed on the furniture and, as you can tell, she doesn’t always listen. However, when she is posing like this it is hard to make her come down.

I just brought this new India inspired paisley throw home for the couch. My black kitty, Quinoa, took to it immediately and spent the day curled up on it. He usually doesn’t spend a lot of time on the couch with us so this inspired us to take a photo for Pets on Furniture!

Attached are two photos of our English setter puppy, GIRO (as Giro d’Italia). He has been granted a black, leather IKEA poang chair with the footstool to extend on.
– Elitza (Ottawa, ON)

This is my Visla dog, her name is Mana, and she loves to have her “sunbathe” on the “Loop chair” (1954) designed by Willy Guhl.
Tatiana (São Paulo, Brasil)

This is our 9yr old pug, Romeo. He is usually curled up in our diamond chair sound asleep, but today we discovered him quite awkwardly perched on the edge.

I have recently been helping my friend Gary and his two cats, Buzz and Mama, decorate their new Chicago apartment, and snapped this picture as the kitties were enjoying the newly organized bedroom. If nothing else, I think this picture sums up well what it’s like to live in close proximity to a sibling…

This is Sam the Goldendoodle. He likes the Noguchi coffee table because he can literally keep an eye on us from any spot he lays down on. In the office, his floor companions are a ten speed bicycle and an Aeron chair, neither of which he fancies.

I’m crushing on herringbone pattern tiling. Seeing it, wanting it, figuring out where I can put it in my house. By Bureaux.

TomMarkHenry are Sydney based design trio Jade Nottage, Cushla McFadden and Chloe Matters. Fresh and young with an edge, their work places emphasis on texture and fabrics but still with a minimalist aesthetic. No frou frou here just fab, stylish interiors.

I am up to my eyeballs in paint as I work on transforming my living room, and I would just like to say thank you to all those who told me to lose the mahogany trim. While I am still not sure about my entry way (where the majority of the wood work is) I am really happy to see the mahogany gone in the living room. I still have alot of work to do but photos to come ASAP. During a short break yesterday while working on the trim, I came across these 2 residences that I fell in love with. The first is a beautiful old farm in Denmark that has been totally renovated and filled with flea market finds. It has a really lovely neutral colour palette. (Via Femina) The other is a small apartment in Barcelona that used to be a series of dark, cramped rooms. Sergi Pons Architects created an open floor plan and inserted a white cube in the centre to house the kitchen and bathroom. Such stunning original stone walls and ceramic tile ceiling, and the result is a successful marriage of modern and rustic. (Via Living)

Stalking leftovers

Posted on Sat, 18 Oct 2014 by midcenturyjo

It’s that time of the week again. Stalking leftovers. Lovely homes? Yes… well… er… maybe. You see I am very finicky when it comes to my virtual real estate stalking. Fussy, particular, choosy, picky and hard to please. Not quite right, bad photos, more photos please, house is amazing furniture is deplorable, can’t quite put my finger on it listings but all with something that has me nodding “yes”. It might even be something as simple as a cool staircase. This week I seem to have got stuck in Sydney with just a short side trip to Melbourne but you’ll find a designer’s apartment (not really a leftover), an apartment more about the view and the beach than the space itself and another that is probably just good CGI because no one has an apartment with that much cool stuff.
