A kitchen/dining nook makeover

Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015 by KiM

Nothing says classic like a black and white kitchen – especially white uppers and black lower cabinets. Throw in a white marble countertop, gold pendants, faucets and hardware, some Tolix stools and a marble Saarinen tulip table and you have just about the best combination EVER. My favourite kind of farmhouse

Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015 by KiM

My favourite kind of farmhouse is one with a modern twist. This farmhouse in Washington is just that, with a colour palette mostly of black and white, this home is comfortable and casual, with modern and rustic melding together in blissful harmony. My love for a traditional farmhouse table paired with Starck’s Louis Ghost chair (or Panton S chairs) has never wavered. Kudos to H2 Design + Build for killin’ this project. (Photos: Dorothée Brand)

Concrete lush

Posted on Tue, 1 Sep 2015 by midcenturyjo

Hard edged sophistication softened by lush fabrics, texture on texture, rambling plantings. Light and air pour into double height spaces with tall doors and windows. No concrete bunker but rich and lush. H House by Bruce Stafford Architects.

The owners of this Cremorne, Sydney house wanted their interiors to be lived in, warm, inviting and “non-designery”. Their Queen Anne style home was redesigned and extended by Luigi Rosselli architects but they turned to interior designers Decus to weave the magic that saw traditional meet modern, Danish mid century sit with family friendly custom build and everywhere glorious art. Light, bright, modern with a nod and always stylish but never precious. Beautiful, unique, fun.
