A magical step-back-in-time

Posted on Tue, 13 Oct 2020 by midcenturyjo

Colourful and quirky, perhaps one could say eccentric. Packed with personality, wit and wonky walls and it’s for sale. The Modern House has all the best properties on its books. A charming Grade II-listed 16th century cottage positioned on Bell Street in Henley-on-Thames. loving brought back to life by The Curious House.

The prestigious A’ Design Award & Competition is ongoing for the 2020-2021 season and with over 100 categories the A’ Design Award & Competition is the worlds’ largest design competition. But it is not just an award. It is an indicator of quality and perfection in design, recognized worldwide, your design front and centre before design companies and professionals. Entries will be judged by an international jury panel of scholars, professionals and media members and the benefits to the winners are inspiring. The trophy, of course, an invitation to the gala night, a certificate of quality, inclusion in the prestigious A’ Design Award & Competition exhibition and the yearly ResultBook but even more importantly press, PR, introduction to industry professionals and companies and international exposure. There is still time to get entries in. You can register here.

Today I thought I would share some of the top winners in the Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design category (one of MANY categories that are included).

A’ Design Award & Competition is organized and awarded annually and internationally in a wide range of categories not just Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design but you know how much we love a great piece of furniture here on Desire to Inspire. You can see all the other winners here and if you’d like to register for 2020-2021 you can still do so here.

Atelier Vime

Posted on Mon, 12 Oct 2020 by KiM

I have been following Atelier Vime for some time now on Instagram, and it finally dawned on me that I should feature this truly magical French shop/design studio here on the blog. They are a vintage basketry shop and producer of wicker, rattan and rope furniture, located in Vallabrègues in an 18th century hôtel particulier. You would never know their photos were actually “product” shots as the architectural details and styling of the spaces is consistently exemplary.

A family’s stylish West Village townhouse

I fell in love with this home when I first saw it featured in a recent edition of Architectural Digest and though I think it made the rounds on the web over the summer I still wanted to share for those who might have missed it. The architecture is the wow factor, and the cozy and unique furnishings, a lot of which I think are vintage, add high class and sophistication yet aren’t too precious that the whole family (with 2 kids) can’t enjoy. This perfection was designed by Alisa Bloom.

Yndō Hotel

One day when things go back to normal and the pandemic of 2020 will only be a memory, we will be able to travel again with no restrictions and visit magical places like Bordeaux, France and perhaps stay at the Yndō Hotel. Late 19th century architecture converges with modern furnishings to bring you a spectacular luxury experience.
