Located in a peaceful seaside area in Devon this house though recently built required extensive renovation to suit the clients’ needs. The design team at Pernille Lind Studio crafted a warm, modern retreat for a lively London family of five, seamlessly blending coastal tranquillity with urban comforts. Bursting with rich hues and natural textures, the interior mirrors the surrounding nature, offering spaces for relaxation and play. From the bespoke kitchen to the inviting guest annexe, every detail reflects a fusion of tradition and modernity, echoing the calming rhythm of seaside living.

The Sauvie Island River House project by Jessica Helgerson Interior Design saw a comprehensive overhaul of a house’s interior and exterior slated initially for demolition. Dating back to the 1970s and having undergone poorly executed remodels over time, the core structure held promise in the eyes of the design team. Their approach focused on reimagining the flow within the house to achieve simplicity and clarity. The long great room was partitioned into distinct kitchen and living areas, cleverly connected by a two-sided fireplace clad in earthy glazed brick. Responding to the clients’ request for warmth and lively hues, the walls were adorned with douglas fir panelling, paint and wallpaper in a recurring palette of terra cotta, mustard, teal and blue reminiscent of the house’s original era.

As much as I love colour and pattern, the soothing vibes of a totally neutral home like this Edwardian 6 bedroom house in rural Sussex also tugs at my heartstrings. I also thought I was completely over the lime washed walls craze but it’s soooo perfect in this home these folks get a pass. Available as a location home via Shoot Factory.

A quaint addition to the iconic Spray Farm Estate (Victoria’s Bellarine Peninsula), The Art Studio purposefully and eloquently invites artistic inspiration from the first step inside. Architecturally referencing details of the original homestead, our interior choices were sympathetic to the surrounding landscape, minimalist in design, abundant in high quality craftsmanship and technically executed for practicality.
I may not be an artist per se but WHOA would working at my current government day job virtually and working on this blog from a space like this would be a dream come true. And I thought my greenhouse was a decent outdoor space to work from…

Singer-songwriter Lauv entrusted Studio Keeta, led by Kristina Khersonsky, with renovating his home to suit his creative lifestyle and love of art. The brief sought a relaxed space merging indoors with nature, enriched by vibrant colours and textures. The uniquely laid-out home with separate spaces connected externally allowed for individualized designs. Architectural highlights include an unconventional stairwell and panoramic views framed by glass walls.
