Inspired by the relaxed elegance of Milan, this inner-city apartment’s kitchen renovation by A.mi reimagines a poorly planned, hidden space dominated by a large structural column. The client’s vision for La Cucina was to create an inviting, theatrical chef’s kitchen that seamlessly connects with the dining area. A striking trumpeted island bench was designed to integrate the column, serving as a central gathering spot where guests can sit, stand and engage with the chef or fellow diners.

Batiik Studio crafts bold, elegant interiors with balanced shapes and rich colours. This 135 m² Parisian duplex in the 6th arrondissement was reimagined as a stylish family home. Each uniquely designed room creates a vibrant yet sophisticated atmosphere, turning everyday spaces into thoughtfully curated decor. The result is a harmonious blend of warmth, energy and timeless refinement.

This historic Portland mansion, built in 1912 for Mayor Russell Albee, was put into our care for a lengthy, careful, considered remodel. Some areas, like the kitchen and bathrooms, we remodeled entirely even moving walls to do so, other rooms were carefully preserved and furnished. We worked with Portland mural artists Lonesome Pictopia to decorate the walls throughout, with brass leaf, painted panels, flowery ceilings, and little animals that show up around every corner. The house is filled with art, life, and beauty, and feels both modern and comfortable but also like its beautiful old self.  Oh!  And those yellow and mirrored panels between the breakfast room and the kitchen?  That’s the refrigerator!

When in Florida…..bring on the pink! One of my favourite designers, Annie Brahler of Eurotrash, grew up in South Florida and designed this Naples home in “traditional Floridian” style but with her own dramatic, blingy spin on it. She went full-on with pink and the warm Florida weather and all the beautiful colours of the landscape are the perfect backdrop for such a bold approach. Photos: Dan Cutrona.

Up-Down House in Sydney’s Surry Hills saw Brad Schwartz Architects transform a narrow, dark terrace into a bright, flexible home with two bedrooms, two workspaces and inviting areas to relax and entertain. A stepped floor increases volume, while skylights and voids bring in light and frame treetop views. Vaulted hallways and a front dining room reference the Victorian terrace era. Concrete floors and integrated steps connect spaces seamlessly, while rich materials and sculptural elements add creativity and warmth.
