Detail oriented

For Jen Cherian of Annarya Design it is all about the details. A kitchen that had great bones so only a rework was done – the different stones with painted and dark wood cabinetry makes this look so classic and timeless. A little corner retreat in the bedroom to read a book with a cup of tea. The tiniest of powder rooms with large-scale floral wallpaper and a custom marble sink. Archways in bathrooms – in one case with a different colour tile on the outside wall. One with diagonally laid checkered marble floor (a fav of mine). A retro vibing laundry room with black and white checkered tile floor. Love every bit of each of these spaces.

Timeless elegance in Salamanca

This 380 m² apartment, located in a landmark building in Madrid’s Salamanca district, has been fully renovated by Galán Sobrini Arquitectos. Original architectural elements were preserved, while new additions were thoughtfully integrated using natural yet sophisticated materials such as restored pine flooring and intricately detailed stone. Highlights include the formal fireplace elevation and a bespoke dining room hutch and bar, creating a richly textured, elegant interior that honors the home’s heritage with a contemporary sensibility.

Cole Valley classic

Lauren Nelson Design, in collaboration with architect Joram S. Altman, reimagined this 1908 Classic Revival home Cole Valley, San Francisco with a bold design overhaul. Stripped to the studs with only the front façade preserved, the house was lifted, expanded and opened to city views. Inside, classic detailing, paneled walls, high ceilings, and curated furnishings, creates a fresh, vibrant atmosphere that blends historic charm with contemporary ease and colour.

In the heart of a 7-hectare natural estate, this 900 m² castle embodies Périgord elegance on four fully landscaped levels. The property offers generous reception areas: living room, dining room, fitted kitchen, billiard room and wine cellar. The top two floors house nine suites, each with its own private bathroom. Outside, the swimming pool is discreetly integrated into a preserved environment, conducive to calm and relaxation. An ideal place to live for a family home, a hotel project, or a second home with character. Possibility to acquire a stable with the property. Only an hour from Bordeaux.
There’s a lot going on with this beautiful château – the red window frames (I’m not a fan), the fabulous millwork, the massive fireplace, a large industrial kitchen (that I’d want to make more historic) and then modern touches in the bedroom and bathrooms. It’s weird but I’d love a go at this challenge. For sale via Kretz for €2,490,000.

Working on a Saturday

It’s like I say week in week out. If you have to drag yourself into work on a weekend it helps if it’s somewhere stylish. Dragon Rouge tattoo parlour by Marianne Evennou.
