Closing Our Chapter: A Thank You to Our Readers

We have made the decision to close the blog as of this Saturday. This was not an easy choice, but due to dwindling funds and health reasons on Jo’s part, it’s the right one for us at this time.
It has been a true pleasure and an honour to curate Desire to Inspire for the past nineteen years. Showing up here twice a day during the week, and again on Saturdays and Sundays with new posts, has been a great joy. What began as a simple love of beautiful spaces grew into a daily ritual shared with a community of curious, creative and generous people from all over the world.
Thank you for reading, for sharing, for your messages and encouragement over the years. This space has been shaped as much by you as it has by us and we’re deeply grateful for every visit, comment and quiet moment spent scrolling through inspiration together.

Kim and Jo, I am so sorry to hear this- especially when health reasons are involved. You guys have been my ‘go to’ for so long I think I just took it for granted you’d ALWAYS be here. I’m going to miss you both, and your personal stories, as much as the content you spend so much time curating for us.
Selfishly, I wish the blog could stay open so I can continue the fun into the archives- and maybe get a little update from you about how you’re doing. Damn, I’m going to miss you!

We cannot leave the blog up any longer. It is literally about to fall over (from a tech perspective), and we have a huge yearly bill coming on Saturday that we just cannot afford to pay. So sorry but it will shut right down, for good.

I feel like someone has said I’ll never get to have my daily piece of chocolate again, because cocoa plants are now extinct.
It’s been a joy, seriously. My favorite thing on the internet, unsurpassed. For years I would sit down at my desktop with a cup of something, ready to relax and savor whatever dish you two had selected for the day. Always a visual meal of top-tier composition, but also a form of daily meditation.
You’ve inspired me to make improvements in my surroundings, helped me better my understanding of design, and taught me to be observant of details, to love what’s in the shadows as well as the light, to notice cultural differences in living spaces, to expand my artistic color vocabulary, to realize there is a design solution for every design problem, and to appreciate the inherent beauty of decor styles that don’t necessarily suit me personally.
If I could buy a drive with all your photo files on it, I would. Absent that, I know my favorites will live forever in my mind. I don’t think I’ve ever commented on the blog before, but, regardless, your work has been a daily feature of my life. You guys did something magnificent that has touched many people across the world. With dependable regularity. And tough standards. And skilled editing. I’ll miss you, and wish you both the best future.
