A panicked, but welcomed Friday

Posted on Fri, 3 Dec 2010 by KiM

Happy Friday everyone! I am spending the day cleaning house and rearranging furniture and panicking a bit as tomorrow there is a wee photo shoot at my humble abode. Since the hubby moved into my (now our) WAY too small home in May things have been in a bit of an uproar and I’m trying to make sense of it all. Regardless of the chaos I am super stoked for this shoot and can’t wait to see the outcome (a little peek of my living room here). I’m a bit lacking in free time as a result so I thought I’d do a simple post today and showcase some photos from a French Canadian magazine called Décormag that I’ve featured a couple of times in the past (here and here).

Lorissa Kimm

San Francisco’s Lorissa Kimm is a phenomenal architect who, while growing up in Tokyo, became interested in architecture after being inspired by the juxtaposition of ancient Shinto shrines and avant-garde modernist buildings. Her designs focus on the purity of forms and clean lines, a love of materials and light, a respect for balance and nature. There is no need for artwork when you have such beautiful architecture and surreal views to please the eye.

Edmund Sumner

London-based architectural photographer Edmund Sumner is an amazing talent. He grew up in a family of architects and designers therefore he has developed a sincere appreciation for architecture. His photographs appear natural and vivacious. They truly evoke a mood that reflects the surroundings. (Check out a VERY cool concrete home after the jump).

Andrew Grinton

We received a tip the other day from a reader named Wilson regarding the photography of Torontonian Andrew Grinton. I am shocked we have not blogged his work before because it’s fantastic. Wilson’s comment was that Andrew is a cross between 2 of my favourite photographers, Ditte Isager and Anders Schonnemann. His still life portfolio is exquisite, and my favourites are below along with some interiors. Thanks Wilson!

UPDATE: I discovered that the first photo and a couple others below are being featured in an upcoming issue of one of my favourite new online mags (Canadian!) Covet Garden. Be sure to check out this special second issue for December when it goes live on the 15th!!!!!!
