One minute I love modern…and the next minute I love rustic. Every now and then I come across a home that has both, but this home is pretty much the extreme of what is modern and rustic. It is located in Jaffa, Tel Aviv and from what Google translator told me, it is at least a century old and has been restored and modernized. I am taken with the juxtaposition of the stone arches with the polished concrete floors and sleek cabinetry and furnishings. (via Mimdap)

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it. And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send closeups of your pet!)

This is our new 12 week old puppy Sallly…she seems to love our white, leather chair…I don’t know if that’s a “good” thing or not…I am going with not…

Meet Wally, a sweet handful of Yorkie Terrier. In addition to Wally on furniture, I’ve also included photos of Wally under furniture.

Attached is a picture of Henry, our 4 month old fox red lab, on “his” couch – the only couch he is welcome. He loves it.

The following photos are going into my inspiration folder for the decor of my home whenever we get our renovations/addition done (which might not happen until the spring…and I am beyond pissed off at this point). Neutral colours (I would like a bit more black), natural materials, modern, airy and slightly miminal. All of these factors make for a calm and relaxing home which I desperately crave.

The latest issue of Pure Green Magazine, is now available online (and FYI, it’s launching in print in November!!) and the folks at the mag kindly sent over a whole bunch of photos of the gorgeous Muskoka lake house that is featured this month. It’s the former summer home and now permanent residence of retired couple Donna and John Taylor that was built in the 1900’s. Filled with finds from antique markets, it’s got a wonderful casual and nautical vibe that is perfect for the surroundings. {All images copyright Pure Green Magazine; photography: Ever Images Photography}
