Sally Conran

I was perusing the internet yesterday looking for blog material when I happened upon the portfolio of Sally Conran, a London based stylist and art director specialising in interiors, still-life, food and lifestyle. Sally’s training in interior architecture gives her an understanding of space and composition. Her work completely blew me away – each space so beautifully styled I found myself inspecting every inch of detail so I didn’t miss a thing.

Dan Davis update

Posted on Tue, 17 Nov 2009 by KiM

Last year Dan Davis introduced us to his new interior design firm, after having left given up his career in advertising. Two and a half years later they are now a staff of 5 and are currently working on 14 projects,  ranging from large commercial projects to intimate tablescapes. Such creativity and quirky touches. Thanks Dan for sharing with us again!

Reader’s home

Posted on Mon, 16 Nov 2009 by KiM

Nusara sent us an email not long after we launched the new blog with a link to photos of her apartment. She is sadly leaving these digs soon to move into a new home that her and her husband just purchased. I love the fresh and bright vibe of her home and some of the little tricks she used to pimp it out with the restrictions she had as a renter. Have fun decorating your new home Nusara – be sure to send us pics!

Heart this school desk (found on the street….gave it a new life with Benjamin Moore paint)

The travel wall

The beauty of duct tape. Looks just like paint when you can’t paint your rental.
Electrical tape works wonder too

My “restaurant.” Unwanted table from the neighbor. Benjamin Moore brought it back to life.
Our cooking motto on the kitchen wall

Favorite room of the house. Thanks to easy-to-remove wallpaper

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 16 Nov 2009 by KiM

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so both pet and furniture takes center stage. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. For example, if it’s REALLY dark or fuzzy (camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos can be sent to desiretoinspirekim@hotmail.com)

We just got a new pup and he immediately turned our favorite chair into his favorite dog bed. 🙂

I have a fantastic picture of my frenchie sitting on the sofa that I would like to submit to you. This is Macbeth and he always sits on the back of the sofa this way.

I’d love to submit a pic of my dog Mabel for this! It’s actually the blog header for my site Mabel’s House.

Here are some photos for your “Pets on Furniture” feature, featuring my tabby Maximum! Max, in my built in bookcase, in my apartment in Paris, Max, at the piano…. he’s taking requests!!, Max, in my drawing table.

My great beagle Oro. Since I left him with my sister for few days he’s fallen in love with this armchair. He’s still waiting for the oportunity to jump on it when we can’t see.

Do you count outdoor furniture? I attached a few. The first one is Lane on the left, and Sophie on the right. 2nd is a close up of Lane, ad 3rd close up of Sophie. The 4th one is another with both. Whippets enjoy sleeping on furniture, so when we hang outside on the deck, they use the lounge chairs.

I love the concept of ‘Pets On Furniture’ – they are two entities that always seem to be in contention (as you can tell from the photo our couch). Here are two photos of Sol looking princely on our couch, taken during and after his bath.

We had much fewer submissions for today’s pets on furniture than we’ve had in the past and as I result I am adding a few more entries. The following came from the comments in Apartment Therapy’s recent plug of our Pets on furniture posts.

technically he isn’t ON the furniture… but he is snuggly as hell.

Spanky the dog, with a kitty in the background on the french daybed. Cuteness personified! (Okay, I’m a little biased.)
