I have gotten a few reader requests lately having to do with televisions and how to decorate around them and make them less of an eye-sore. There are all sorts of ideas below – hide it within built-in shelving, wallpaper the wall behind it (or paint it black), place it on top of a hot pink credenza as a distraction, hang art around it (like I did)…..and at the end of the post is an example of what NOT TO DO.

I wonder if photographers who shoot such absolutely amazing spaces (ie. yesterday’s post) go home to their less than stellar dwellings and think “why do I live in this dump?”. I think today’s featured photographer might have had that thought on occasion. Mauricio Fuertes of Barcelona claims he’s been working alot, in places that he dreams about. I’m fairly certain had I stepped into any of the spaces I’d be having dreams about them too, and wishing they were mine.

Swedish-born Katarina Malmström Brown is a phenomenal photographer who has worked for just about every decent European magazine out there – Allt i Hemmet, Bo Bedre, every Elle there is, Hus & Hem, Residence, Sköna Hem (she currently operates out of London, Stockholm and Los Angeles), and it’s clear why she’s so popular. Her photos are vibrant and eye-catching, and the spaces themselves are spectacular. I’m taking notes, on both the decor and the photography.

If you’d like to send us photos to include in next week’s “pets on furniture” post, please ensure your photos follow our basic rules: First, the pet must be on a piece of furniture. And said piece of furniture must be clearly visible in the photo, so it takes center stage rather than your pet. (Think of it more of a photo of a great piece of furniture that you want to show off…and your pet happens to be sitting on it). And second, the photo must be of decent quality. If it’s dark or fuzzy (from a camera phone) then it may not make the cut. Thanks! (Photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to desiretoinspirekim[@]hotmail[.]com and PLEASE don’t send me closeups of your pet!)
Here’s a photo of my cat Dodger on your Eames repro lounge chair. He has mastered the art of lounging.

This is my 11 year old boy, Diego. Though he has a stern expression here, he has quite the personality. This might be his favorite spot, and my husband and I call this his Super Man position 🙂

I really like your Monday’s pets on furniture and I will be really happy to see my dog, Sam, there. He is actually sitting on my favorite IKEA chair.

this is my Mini. She’s 16 and as you can see, quite the queen. She firmly believes that all the furniture in the apartment was bought for her, not for me or my guests. She loves this sort of Windsor Chair dearly, and I meant to sew new covers for the cushion but she always sits on it.

City-turned-country dog Bubba (aka Cindy Crawford) perched on the bed in our freshly remodeled ranch house in Uruguay, staring at the cows, no doubt.

I was trying to get a shot of the entire room and all of my pets happened to be in the picture. The white dog is Mo, the brown/white dog is Fiona and the cat is Frankie. They love being the center of attention and taking naps on the couch and chair. 🙂
